From 1 – 16 March, two months before the European elections, the European Democracy Lab, together with the Berlin-based independent project space CLB turned Moritzplatz in Berlin Kreuzberg into a place breathing the European spirit. With curated contributions from the arts, research, activism, the F(EU)TURE FESTIVAL engaged discussions on the state of European Democracy. “The European Republic is under Construction” at CLB Berlin was the main festival venue, featuring material on The European Balcony Project and the idea of the European Republic.
The fully packed event series included lectures, workshops, performances and political debates with Ulrike Guérot, Simone Menne, Robert Menasse, Saskia Sassen, Volt, European Alternatives, United Europe and many more.
The highlights of the program included a reading from the bestselling novel “Die Hauptstadt” with and by the Austrian author Robert Menasse, the Berlin Premiere of the Dutch theatre play De Eurocommissaris, a panel on the role of managers and business in the debate about the future of Europe, as well as a discussion with Dennis Pohl of the University of the Arts on Architecture and Image Strategies in Europe.
